Students who are not performing at grade level in mathematics by the end of 8th grade have a very difficult time keeping up in high school. Based on its very successful Literacy Tutor model, which has increased reading scores in elementary school students, the San Francisco Education Fund has developed a similar Math Literacy program for middle school students. We are looking for volunteers to work one-on-one with students in specific middle schools in the City where the highest percentage of students are in danger of falling behind. We will train you and select the school that is the best fit for your skills, location, etc. Volunteers are asked to give two hours a week to ensure students get plenty of one-on-one attention during the school year.
