The Compeer Program in Westlake, Oh. is looking for adult volunteers that are compassionate and patient. A Volunteer is screened, trained and informed about mental illness and the isolation that often goes with it. Volunteers are matched one-to-one with a mental health consumer. The Compeer Program provides a quarterly schedule listing a weekly activity facilitated and supervised by Compeer staff. The matches can participate in these. COMPEER Volunteers that are matched with a same gender adult who is recovering from mental illness make a positive difference in the recovery process. COMPEER Volunteers are asked to provide at minimum 4 hours of support per month by making phone calls, emailing, &/or an outing. COMPEER Volunteers make their own schedules!! COMPEER asks volunteers for a 1 year commitment , but a volunteer can continue after that year.
