Side walkers and horse leaders are required for most riders with special challenges. Side walkers must be at least 14 and able to walk for about 30 minutes at a time and jog for short distances. They walk beside the horse next to the child or adult who is mounted on the horse during their lesson. You do not need to have horse experience to do this we can teach you what to do in a short 30 minute lesson.
Horse leaders lead the horse during the riders' lesson and must be physically able to walk at least 30 minutes and jog for short distances. Horse experience is preferred, side walkers without horse experience usually work into horse leading as they gain confidence and knowledge of the horses. We will teach you what you need to do.
We have many other opportunities available in administration, barn and center maintenance and horse grooming/ exercising. Younger children are also welcome as long as they come out with a parent. If you love children and horses this is a great opportunity to help others and enjoy being with and working with horses!
