Position Overview:

The Social Media Assistant Volunteer will play a key role in managing and enhancing the organization’s online presence across various social media platforms. This role involves creating engaging content, monitoring social media channels, and assisting with social media campaigns to promote the organization’s mission and activities. You will work closely with the marketing team and the Executive Director to ensure that the organization’s social media strategies align with its overall goals and messaging.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Content Creation: Develop and curate engaging content for social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and others. This includes creating graphics, writing posts, and scheduling updates.
  • Social Media Management: Monitor and manage social media accounts, including responding to comments and messages, and engaging with followers. Maintain a consistent voice and style across all platforms.
  • Campaign Support: Assist in the planning and execution of social media campaigns to support fundraising efforts, events, and other organizational initiatives. Track campaign performance and provide recommendations for optimization.
  • Analytics and Reporting: Monitor social media metrics to assess the effectiveness of content and campaigns. Prepare regular reports on social media performance and trends to inform strategy adjustments.
  • Research and Trends: Stay updated on social media trends, best practices, and platform updates. Research competitors and industry leaders to identify new opportunities and strategies.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the marketing and communications team to ensure that social media efforts are aligned with overall organizational goals and messaging. Assist in developing social media strategies and plans.
  • Event Promotion: Support the promotion of events and special initiatives through targeted social media campaigns. Create event-related content and engage with attendees online.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in social media management, marketing, or a related field is preferred, but not required.
  • Strong understanding of various social media platforms and their best practices.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to create compelling and engaging content.
  • Familiarity with social media management tools and analytics platforms (e.g., Hootsuite, Google Analytics).
  • Creative mindset with the ability to generate innovative ideas for content and campaigns.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Passion for the organization’s mission and commitment to supporting its goals through effective social media strategies.
