STEM Montessori Academy of Canada (SMAC-SIAC) is a registered not-for-profit organization specializing in science, technology, engineering, and math. (STEM) programming is open to all students with the mission to deliver top-notch STEM literacy and application. The SMAC will specialize in an advanced bar-none. STEM-based educational curriculum that emphasizes the interconnected subject areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM)
We are expanding our programming to industry-specific, hands-on experiences. We require a Food Manager Volunteer - Finding and Securing Food Vendors for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner to help us keep the momentum going in support of the growth and development of these programs. We ask you to join us in continuing to serve the youth in our community. Time Commitment: 4-8 hours per week from July 16th to August 16, 2024
Responsibilities:
⦁ Identify qualified food vendors that align with SMAC's values: healthy, fresh, age-appropriate meals, and catering to dietary needs.
⦁ Negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery schedules with potential vendors to secure the best value for SMAC.
⦁ Collaborate with school administration, staff, and potentially parents to create balanced and appealing menus for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
⦁ Maintain clear communication with chosen vendors to ensure on-time delivery, quality control, and adherence to dietary needs.
⦁ Manage food program expenses within a designated budget, including vendor costs and potential fluctuations.
⦁ Maintain accurate records of vendor contracts, menus, and budget expenditures for administrative purposes.

Qualifications:
⦁ A strong belief in the importance of healthy eating habits for children and a desire to create a positive food culture at SMAC.
⦁ Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle vendor research, menu planning, and budget management.
⦁ Strong communication and negotiation skills to build relationships with vendors, secure favorable contracts and manage expectations.
⦁ Experience managing budgets and a keen eye for cost-effectiveness to find the best value within allocated resources.
⦁ Meticulous attention to detail to ensure quality food options, adherence to dietary restrictions, and accurate record-keeping.
⦁ The ability to collaborate effectively with school administration, staff, and parents to develop balanced and appealing menus.
