The Adult Day Health Care Program provides healthcare and recreation for seniors with vision loss, developmental disabilities and chronic medical conditions. A recreational instructor is needed to lead a variety of recreational activities that will maximize the enjoyment experienced by the seniors who attend the program.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Plan, organize and execute daily recreational activities.
2. Develop curriculum and teach program content appropriate for the participant’s age and abilities.
3. Executes all duties connected with set up, execution and break down of recreation workshops/activities i.e. (games, trivia, folk dance, square dance, sing-a-long etc.)
4. Must demonstrate and teach proper techniques for each activity and provide a safe and supportive learning environment for all participants.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must be able to relate comfortably to disabled and blind adults/seniors.
2. Ability to plan and lead recreational activities independently with staff supervision, required.
3. Course work in recreation, education, sociology, or a related field preferred.

  • Candidates must be available one hour per week, plus any time required for planning and preparation.
  • This is an on-going opportunity. A health form and proof of immunizations must be completed by physician. All candidates must be tested for TB prior to volunteering.
