Caring for terminally ill is a labor of love that requires a special person with just the right touch. If you have a passion for helping others, consider becoming a hospice volunteer. You can make a profound difference in the lives of patients and their loved ones.
Examples of services volunteers can provide:
- Social support and companionship (socializing, reading with patient, playing music)
- Caregiver respite (sitting with the patient while caregiver is able to leave the home for a period of time)
- Sharing hobbies and special interests (watching TV, playing games, scrapbooking)
- Assisting with errands such as grocery shopping
- Light housekeeping (assisting patient with laundry, dishes, organizing items in the home)
