The KLM Foundation is a small, nonprofit (501c3) organization. We are currently seeking an accounting volunteer/intern to join our team. As a volunteer/intern, you will report to the foundation's board of directors and, largely, will be responsible for managing the accounting records and donations of the foundation.
Responsibilities include:
- developing the financial reports for the board and executive committee meetings
- assisting in determining the financial status of the foundation and analyzing forecast results
- monitoring foundation donations and giving, including board member giving
- assisting in resolution of accounting discrepancies, where applicable
- assisting with annual foundation tax filings
- assisting in drafting and monitoring status of grant applications, where applicable
- performing other duties as requested by the Executive Director and/or Board
Qualitifications:
- Must be a current college student majoring in accounting, finance, or related fields or already have a degree in these fields
- Experience with Excel or other spreadsheets is preferred
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Strong willingness to learn about accounting and nonprofits
NOTE: This is an unpaid volunteer role. It may be used for college credit for the right candidate. We prefer a minimum 1 year time committment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to learn aspects of accounting and finance as they relate to nonprofits.
