ORGANIZATION: National Park Service

The Cultural Resource Volunteers assist with several aspects of the program, including:

*Railroad History Interpretation at the East Troy Railroad Museum (WI) during the annual "Chicago Day"

event. The NPS and the Museum host a joint event focusing on the history of the South Shore Railroad

Cars. Volunteers assist Park Rangers and the Museum's staff to talk about the history of the cars, how the

NPS came to own them, and the long-term preservation of the cars. Volunteers also assist handing out

information on the park and on the Junior Ranger program.

*Research - Volunteers assist park staff with research on various history topics. This could include

researching and organizing files in the park's offices, visiting local and regional repositories to perform research, and assisting outside contractors who are preparing NPS studies.

*Archeology - Volunteers assist Archeologists from the NPSs Midwest Archeological Center during their work in the park. This entails field work, for example sifting soils and shoveling.
