Cleanup Project at Camp Hidden Falls

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: National Park Service

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.

Join Leave No Trace and park rangers for a rare and meaningful volunteer opportunity. This volunteer project involves the removal of an abandoned PVC (plastic) water line within the Camp Hidden Falls section property. Once the site of a scouting camp, the 1,050-acre Camp Hidden Falls is now a lesser-known part of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, and--as the name suggests--is the hiding place of multiple waterfalls! The event will take place from 9am to 12:30pm.

Please join us for this exclusive opportunity to clean up Camp Hidden Falls and be introduced to the principles of Leave No Trace. An optional guided hike will be provided by former Girl Scouts of Camp Hidden Falls, from 1:00pm - 2:00pm.

After you submit this application, please register through this link.

Important information:

- Participants will meet at the Pocono Environmental Education Center parking lot at 9:00am, then will caravan to the Camp Hidden Falls property, 2.5 miles away.

- All volunteers will sign a Volunteer Service Agreement the day of the event, and any participants under 18 will require the signature of a parent or guardian.

- Clothing: Please dress for the weather. This includes wearing durable shoes/boots, long pants, long-sleeve shirt, and a hat. Light-colored clothes are recommended for spotting ticks. Gloves, eyewear, yellow vests, and insect repellant will be provided for participants.

- Fitness: Expect to walk on uneven terrain and in light brush, for a total of two miles. Must be able to bend, lift, and carry up to 20lbs.

- Bring: Plenty of water, and snacks. Water can be refilled with water provided. Bring a lunch if you wish to participate in the optional guided hike.
