Position: SUN Summer Support Volunteer- Sacramento Elementary School
Program Area: Schools Uniting Neighborhoods (SUN)
Location: In person at Sacramento Elementary School ( 11400 NE Sacramento St, Portland, OR 97220)
Schedule: July 15 th - August 8 th. 8:30am- 12:30am. Monday- Thursday.
Program Description: IRCO’s School-Based Programs support youth and families through site-specific community school services. We support children, youth and families through their neighborhood schools by providing a rich array of extended day programming, food and resource support, Kindergarten readiness, parent leadership, and family engagement. Our 20 SUN Community Schools serve as resource hubs across Multnomah County empowering communities through their schools.
Position Summary: As a volunteer, you will assist in creating a welcoming and supportive environment for students in grades 1-5. Your responsibilities will include helping bring students in, taking attendance, assisting with the sign-in process, and supporting breakfast routines. You will also engage with students during activities and free play, fostering a positive and inclusive atmosphere. During class time, you will work closely with teachers to assist with classroom tasks, ensuring that each student receives the attention and support they need to thrive. Your dedication and enthusiasm will play a crucial role in enhancing the educational experience for these young learners.
Qualifications:
· Experience working with youth or an interest in working with youth.
· Adaptable.
Time Commitment: The summer program will run from July 15th- August 8 th.
Requirements:
· Must be 18 or older
· Must pass background check
