Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Mid Sound Fisheries Enhancement Group

Join Mid Sound Fisheries, the City of Auburn, and your community members as we restore the shores of the Green-Duwamish River at Fenster Park! At this event we are going to be removing a patch of blackberry so we can plant native plants that will benefit salmon in the Green River and Orcas in the Sound!

The event will begin with a brief discussion that includes information about the site, the partnering organizations, why this work is important, tool use, and safety, as well as context for why this work is important. We will provide work gloves, all instructions, and all tools. Please plan to arrive on time for the start of the event and allow extra time to find parking.

Everyone is welcome, but anyone 16 or 17 years old attending without an adult needs to fill out and bring the attached Youth Waiver to the event. Anyone under the age of 16 needs to be accompanied by an adult. Thank you!

Mission Statement

Mid Sound Fisheries Enhancement Group works to involve local people in projects that will ensure a future for wild salmon.

Description

Mid Sound Fisheries Enhancement Group is dedicated to helping landowners and communities protect their local fish. We practice fisheries and stream restoration in the King and Kitsap Counties in Washington State. Our service area includes the Green/Duwamish River watershed, the Lake Washington/Cedar River watershed, isolated streams flowing into Puget Sound in King County, and all watersheds in eastern Kitsap County. We use habitat restoration projects - such as streamside fencing, native tree planting, and fish passage improvements - as catalysts to building community partnerships. As one of 14 Regional Fisheries Enhancement Groups in Washington State, we are part of a coordinated effort to restore fish habitat in the state.
