The Black Student Pharmacist Organization (BSPO) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and empowering minority pharmacy students and professionals. We provide resources, mentorship, and networking opportunities to enhance the academic and professional success of our members. BSPO is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to serve as the Volunteer Executive Director of Recruitment. This position plays a critical role in attracting talented individuals to join our organization and contribute to our mission.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Recruitment Planning: Develop and implement strategic recruitment plans to attract a diverse pool of pharmacy students and professionals to join BSPO.

Team Building: Recruit, train, and manage a team of recruitment ambassadors or volunteers to assist with recruitment efforts. This team will represent BSPO at various events and engage with prospective members.

School Fairs and Events: Organize and participate in school fairs, career days, and other relevant events at pharmacy schools and universities to promote BSPO and recruit new members. Coordinate logistics, materials, and staffing for these events.

Networking and Outreach: Build and maintain relationships with pharmacy schools, student organizations, professional associations, and industry partners to expand BSPO's reach and visibility within the pharmacy community.

Membership Engagement: Collaborate with other BSPO leaders to develop strategies for engaging and retaining members. Provide ongoing support and resources to ensure a positive member experience.

Data Management: Track recruitment metrics and maintain a database of prospective and current members. Analyze data to assess recruitment effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.

Promotional Materials: Develop and distribute marketing materials, including brochures, flyers, and digital content, to promote BSPO and highlight the benefits of membership.

Training and Development: Provide training and guidance to recruitment team members to enhance their skills in networking, communication, and recruitment strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Doctorate degree in Pharmacy or related field (required).

  • Previous membership in BSPO during pharmacy school (preferred).

  • Experience in recruitment, outreach, or student leadership roles (preferred).

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the pharmacy profession.

The mission of the Black Student Pharmacist Organization (BSPO) is to effectively recruit, serve, and retain underrepresented minority students studying pharmacy by enhancing their academic experience through various systems of support: Informational/Education, Academic, Social, & Community Service.

Description

The Black Student Pharmacist Organization (BSPO) is a 501(c)(3) organization that was founded on February 19, 2019 at the University of Missouri-Kansas City by two students, Essence Daniels-Brewer and Charley Edwards. Essence and Charley started BSPO with the goal of supporting and enhancing the academic experience of Black students. The purpose of BSPO is to provide a space for Black students to feel a sense of community and belonging.

BSPO now has chapters at 3 universities across the United States all with the vision to revolutionize pharmacy education by championing inclusivity and diversity. We will achieve this by advocating for fair admissions policies, supporting diversity initiatives, offering scholarships, fostering networking opportunities, and expanding our impact to universities nationwide. Our goal is to create a future where the pharmacy profession is marked by equity and excellence.
