ORGANIZATION: Lighthouse Guild

  • Spots available: 0

The Volunteer Recruiter and Interviewer assists the Volunteer Center by attending recruiting events and interacting with potential volunteers. Weekly, they will also conduct volunteer interviews, evaluating the potential volunteers and their application, reviewing areas of interest and availability. Based upon the information supplied by the potential volunteer, questions and discussions are personalized and focused on interests, background, and availability. If there are any "gaps" or red flags in the application, those are explored as well. Throughout the encounter, the Interviewer takes note of appearance, personality traits, enthusiasm, motivation and both body and verbal language to make the best assessment and eventual fit within the organization. All application information and interview notes are then entered into the volunteer management system.

Principle duties and responsibilities:

1. Review application prior to interview.
2. Remain current on volunteer openings and organizational needs.
3. Assess applicant’s abilities, interests, commitment and suitability.
4. Suggest possible placements and coordinate scheduling.
5. Complete all application information and notes in the volunteer management system.
6. Attend volunteer and intern recruitment fairs as needed.
7. Understand history and mission of Lighthouse Guild.

Qualifications:

1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
2. Ability to understand and evaluate people and their abilities.
3. Social interaction skills.
4. Critical judgment abilities.
5. Ability to align people’s interests with volunteer openings.
6. Prior experience in human resources management, hiring or interviewing is required.

Training:

The candidate will sit in on several interviews, and co-interview with the CVO or Volunteer Administrator before conducting interviews on their own.
