ORGANIZATION: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

This position involves Recreation Area Maintenance and Natural Resource Management.


Volunteers must be 21 years or older; be required to work 20 hours per week, per site, Must be capable of lifting at least 30lbs or more, be physically and mentally capable of performing volunteer tasks; knowledge of or willingness to learn how to use power tools, ability to navigate terrain safely, capable of talking to the public a plus, general knowledge of carpentry/construction a plus. Must pass a background check; be able to drive government vehicles.


Volunteers are needed for a wide variety of duties and responsibilities. Volunteer duties can include but not limited to natural resource management activities; recreation area maintenance such as mowing, trimming and pressure washing; assisting with recycle program; cultural resource protection, trail maintenance, traffic control; and much more. The Volunteer Village offers 10 full hook-up campsites each furnished with a table, grill, lantern post, water, electric and sewage. Village volunteers also share a meeting room with a kitchen, lounge, laundry room, and a maintenance shop, 2 shelters, restrooms, outdoor exercise equipment, trails, and access to a boat ramp.


Volunteers will work closely with park rangers, administrative staff, other volunteers, or independently. There will be a combination of indoor and outdoor work, but this opening will be more outdoor.
