Position: The volunteers will be assigned duties to supplement the efforts of the project management team. The scope of duties includes, but is not limited to, beach maintenance, trash and litter clean-up, and landscaping. Lodging: The volunteers must complete 24 hours of volunteer service each week to qualify for an RV site on property. The volunteers must provide their own RV . The site includes electric (50-Amp), water, and sewage hookups. No WiFi or cable utilities. Area Highlights: Lake Siog is located in central Massachusetts, approximately 20 minutes north of the Connecticut border. Duties - Provide visitors with information concerning Corps Recreation Areas. Twice daily check park grounds, campsites, shelters, restrooms, playgrounds, and utilities for signs of vandalism, water leaks, hazard trees, etc. Keep in mind the safety of our visitors. Notify Corps personnel promptly if any problems are seen. While on your shift you are required to stay overnight in the park. Work Environment - Working in the gatehouse while also overseeing campsites, playgrounds, and pavilions. Outside the gatehouse, you'll conduct routine inspections of the campsites, playgrounds, restrooms , pavilions to ensure they are clean, safe, and well-maintained. Working with USACE Rangers Qualifications - Attentive, friendly, and accommodating. Portray a positive image of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Training will be provided. Work will be performed according to safety guidelines provided by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Requirements - All work campers/park hosts will be subject to a background check before starting duties in the gatehouse. The US Army Corps of Engineers require a background check. Volunteers will be required to open and close gates of the park at designated times. The park host’s primary is the functional operation of the park. The secondary responsibility is to assist visitors and identify problems/issues inside the park. The Park has a fully operational gate house that the volunteer will be housed out of. A normal rotation consists of an eight (8) day rotation, 2 days on 6 days off. A shift consists of two (2) 12-hour days. Volunteers will NOT be responsible for collecting funds, all funds will be routed through the fee kiosk, or recreation.gov. Single volunteers will be considered, although volunteer pairs are preferred. RV pad is supplied with Full hook-ups. Start Date - 2024-09-20 End Date - 2025-09-19

Answer visitor questions regarding recreation opportunities, Explain reservation procedures to campers, Monitor the firewood sheds, Perform basic diagnosis and maintenance of issues with amenities (water, electric, plumbing, etc), Inform visitors of park rules, regulations, and policies, Collect comment cards and surveys, Relay complaints, compliance issues, overcrowding, and maintenance actions to Park Ranger staff, Assist campers with contacting local emergency services, Print Daily Arrival Reports and post them in the gatehouse, Check campers in and out in Recreation One Stop, Assist in routine maintenance of fee machines, Be available to assist visitors/campers at all hours while on duty. **Note: Duties are subject to change throughout the course of the season.** A full hookup campsite is available.
