ORGANIZATION: American Red Cross - National Headquarters

This position supports the National Headquarters (NHQ) International Services Department (ISD) Quality, Data, and Learning (QDL) department, and specifically the Grant Management Unit (GMU). This is a 100% virtual (volunteer-from-home) opportunity. Do you have a passion for helping people in need? Do you have excellent analytical and communication skills? As a Grant Monitoring volunteer, you will work closely with the Grants Manager and support various tasks related to the grant monitoring process of the grant management cycle of special projects. You will help the country's programs comply with internal and external standards that align with donor intention. You will also conduct business analysis and provide feedback and recommendations to improve the grant and contribute to the humanitarian work of our organization. You will also have the chance to interact with different cultures and gain valuable insights into the needs and realities of different regions.

    • Responsibilities

      Support the overall administrative and non-admin functions of the Grant Management Unit and its staff, which includes some or all of the following:

      • Grant Monitoring:
        • Ensure timely compliance by regularly reviewing the partner and donor report deadlines of the country teams and sending reminders to meet timeline.
        • Analyze issue/risk data regularly and provide input and suggestions for mitigation strategies to the delegations when needed.
        • Ensure effective communication and document exchange between field and ISD units promptly.
        • Help the team keep track of the grant requirements and send timely reminders.
        • Charter Processing: Proposal development, Amendments, and closeouts:
          • Assist Grant Managers with reviewing fully executed PA to confirm impacts to time, scope, or budget for amendments.
          • Assist Grant managers in facilitating timely transfer of information and documents between field and ISD units.
          • Monitor projects status for final report compliance and timely closeout
          • Assist Grant Managers and country teams in facilitating timely closeout.
      • Meetings preparation:
        • Reviews portfolio data compliance in preparation for monthly Grant Management Unit KPI review sessions and help identify gaps.
        • Help prepare and present, when needed, the monthly Ops Review deck meeting for AmCross leadership on time, which includes updating and reviewing the activity, milestones, and budget data to flag any comments or issues to the Grant Management Unit Manager and/or general meeting audience.

Required qualifications:

    • Reliable access to resources needed to volunteer 100% virtually
    • Knowledge and familiarity with data management platforms (e.g., Power BI); technical competency.
    • High level of comfort with learning new technology and working with systems that may be unfamiliar
    • Must be at least 16 years of age
    • Willingness to learn and grow personal competency about other cultures.
    • Ability to follow and implement requests received from the supervisor with minimal supervision.
    • Adaptable to change, negotiate compromise, and tolerate ambiguity.
    • Ability to build effective relationships with others who can help with work-related goals.
    • Be sensitive in human interactions to diversity and inclusiveness.
    • Use facilitative leadership and collaboration techniques to build and manage relationships.
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written
    • Well organized, responsible, trustworthy
    • Attention to detail.
    • Able to work in a team.
    • Ability to multi-task
    • Resume submission
    • Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies
    • Must reside in the United States

    Preferred:

    • Proficiency in Salesforce
    • Bilingual in Spanish
    • Experience working with Latino or Spanish-speaking populations is a plus
