ORGANIZATION: American Red Cross - National Headquarters

This position supports the National Headquarters (NHQ) Fundraising Development Operations team. This is a 100% remote (volunteer-from-home opportunity). The Fundraising Development Operations and other NHQ teams provide customer support to our generous financial donors and regional staff members. We track these requests through a Case Management system. We are currently in the process of developing a new Case Management system within the Salesforce Console. This role would support with documenting technical details of systems and processes for case management.


  • Write technical system documentation, including, but not limited to user manuals, standard operating procedures, and job aids.
  • Possibly creating diagrams, charts, maps, videos, and other visual aids to assist readers in understanding functionality or a process.
  • Meet with developers, admins, and power users to learn about specific system functionality and processes and gather content for documentation.
  • Gathers feedback from readers to improve documentation.
  • Leverage technical understanding of system to suggest edits and additions to existing training materials and user guides.



    • Must be 18+ years of age
    • At least 2 years' experience with technical writing (most important is experience writing User Manuals)
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Excellent writing and grammatical skills
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
    • In-depth technical understanding of the Salesforce platform
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
    • Proficient with Lucid or similar diagramming application
    • Ability to present complex data in clear, concise text
    • Ability to distill complex technical concepts into accessible visuals such as entity relationship diagrams, process flow diagrams, and data flow diagrams.
    • Ability to understand and work directly with clients and customers
    • Ability to work independently
    • Resume Required
    • Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies
    • Must reside in the United States
    • Salesforce administrator or developer certification
    • 1 years' experience creating Salesforce technical documentation

  • Then continue to build out the document over the next 3-4 months. Additionally, the initial work will need to be within normal business hours (Eastern Timezone)
