Cradles to Crayons Philadelphia

Are you looking for ways to help homeless and low-income children in the greater Philadelphia area? Then volunteer with Cradles to Crayons!

We are a non-profit organization that provides everday essentials, free of charge, to kids in need. Volunteers are always needed to sort children's clothing, test and clean toys, examine books, or inspect equipment. All volunteer work is very hands-on, done in a lively and fun atmosphere, and directly beneficial to the children we serve.

Our volunteer hours are Wednedsay through Friday, 10 AM -12 PM and 1 PM- 3 PM. We also hold evening hours the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month, from 5 - 8 PM. Some Saturday hours are also available for volunteer groups by appointment.

We welcome individuals, families and children over six years of age, and small and large groups, including school groups, service clubs, corporate and religious organizations.

Mission Statement

Our Mission: To provide, free of charge, low-income and homeless children from birth to pre-teen the basic essentials they need to be safe, warm, ready to learn, and valued. We also set a foundation for lasting change through the meaningful, tangible volunteer opportunities we provide to thousands of youth and adults each year. We're the glue between communities that have and communities that need.

Description

Cradles to Crayons is a non-profit agency that distributes children's clothing, books, toys, equipment, and school supplies to low-income and homeless children ages birth to twelve in the greater Philadelphia area.
We gather new and gently used products from community drives and individual donations, organize and process the goods in our warehouse, then work with established social service agencies (including social workers, schools and hospitals, and other non-profits) to distribute the goods directly to children in need. All products and services are provided free of charge, and thanks to our many dedicated volunteers and supporters we've been able to keep costs low and benefits high.
