About MRF:

The McIntosh Rollins Foundation (MRF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the legacy of artist Dox Thrash. We're committed to creating accessible community programming and exhibitions that celebrate the contributions of Black artists to the cultural landscape of Philadelphia. We rely on the support of passionate volunteers to achieve our goals and make a meaningful impact in our community.

Position description:

MRF is seeking a volunteer grant writer to help us secure upstart funding to support community programming, exhibitions, and paying our volunteers for their time. The grant writer will work closely with the creative director and volunteer coordinator to identify funding opportunities and develop grant proposals that align with MRF's mission and goals.

This position requires excellent research and writing skills, as well as the ability to work independently and meet deadlines. The time commitment is approximately 1 hour per week, with flexibility to work around the volunteer's schedule. The position has the opportunity to become paid as MRF secures funding for paid staff positions.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on potential funding opportunities
  • Develop grant proposals that align with MRF's mission and goals
  • Work collaboratively with the creative director and volunteer coordinator to ensure grant proposals are completed on time and meet all requirements
  • Track progress of grant applications and report on outcomes
