Job Overview:
As the Director of Communications and Technology at the Veteran Project Manager Mentor Alliance (VPMMA), this is a multifaceted role responsible for developing and executing comprehensive strategies in marketing, communications, and technology to elevate the organization’s brand, engage the community, enhance technological capabilities, and support fundraising efforts. This position oversees all external communications, digital marketing, public relations, content creation, and technology integration to align with the organization's strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement the organization's marketing and communications strategy alongside the technology strategy to ensure alignment with VPMMA’s mission and operational goals.
Oversee the creation of marketing materials, digital content, and communication campaigns, ensuring brand consistency across all platforms.
Manage the organization’s online presence, including website enhancements, social media, and digital tools, ensuring they are optimized for user engagement and accessibility.
Lead media relations public outreach and establish partnerships to promote and expand the organization’s visibility and program outreach.
Coordinate with fundraising, programs, and technology departments to support their objectives through effective marketing and the seamless integration of technology.
Oversee and report on marketing effectiveness, communication strategies, and technology implementations.
Develop and manage the marketing, communications, and technology budgets, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
Implement data privacy and cybersecurity measures to protect organizational data.
Oversees the technology team for effectiveness on key digital platforms such as Google Workspace, ensuring optimal configuration and management of user settings and permissions.
Engage with stakeholders to foster community support and involvement and represent VPMMA at events as needed.
Plan for crisis communications and adapt strategies based on ongoing feedback and data to refine organizational practices.
Mentor and lead a team of staff and volunteers in marketing, communications, and technology.
Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Technology, or a related field preferred.
Extensive experience in marketing, communications, and technology management, preferably within the nonprofit sector.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage diverse teams and projects.
Proficient in digital marketing tools, social media platforms, website development, and technological integrations.
Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to engage with a variety of stakeholders.
Creative and strategic thinker with the ability to develop innovative solutions and strategies.
Knowledge of data privacy, cybersecurity, and AI technologies.
Experience with budget management and resource allocation.
Passion for the mission and objectives of VPMMA.
Adaptability and willingness to tackle complex challenges in a dynamic environment.
Position Details:
Type: Volunteer
Location: Remote
Board Commitment:
Dedicate at least 16 hours per month to VPMMA activities.
Promptly respond to communications within 24 hours unless on a scheduled break.
Actively contribute to a cooperative and constructive team environment.
Participate fully in committee and directorate responsibilities.
Attend all meetings and provide timely notice of any absences.
Term Limits: Officers serve for two-year terms, beginning January 1 following their election or until the end of the current board term on December 31, 2025.

Description
In December 2017 Eric "Doc" Wright and Joe Pusz, PMO Joe started a proof of concept which eventually became VPMMA. A select few Veterans and Mentors connected to try to concept, pairing a Veteran seeking a career in Project Management with an experienced PM. The results were immediate and VPMMA was born.
The goal for VPMMA is to leverage the generous project management community to find Mentors willing to volunteer time to benefit Veterans, Servicemembers and Military Spouses. In short order, the support was overwhelming. Mentors from across the United States stepped up to serve those who have served us. Now is your turn to join us and give back some of your time to help a Veteran, Servicemember and Military Spouse.
