Reports To: Executive Director Job Summary:

H.Y.P.E. to Empower, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and tech-savvy Volunteer IT and Systems Management Specialist to support our organization's IT infrastructure and systems. The ideal candidate will have expertise in IT management and the ability to find and implement free or low-cost tools to enhance our nonprofit's efficiency and effectiveness. This volunteer position is critical in ensuring our technology systems run smoothly and contribute to our mission of empowering youth.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. IT Infrastructure Management:

    • Assess the organization's current IT infrastructure and identify areas for improvement.
    • Manage and maintain hardware, software, and network systems to ensure optimal performance and security.
    • Troubleshoot technical issues and provide timely support to staff members.
  2. Systems Integration and Optimization:

    • Evaluate existing systems and processes to identify opportunities for integration and automation.
    • Research and implement free or low-cost tools and software to streamline operations and improve productivity.
    • Train staff on how to use new tools and systems effectively.
  3. Data Management and Security:

    • Develop and implement data management policies and procedures to ensure the security and integrity of organizational data.
    • Regularly back up data and implement disaster recovery plans to minimize data loss risk.
    • Stay informed about cybersecurity best practices and implement appropriate measures to protect against cyber threats.
  4. IT Support and Training:

    • Provide technical support to staff members and volunteers, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
    • Conduct training sessions to educate staff on IT policies, procedures, and best practices.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for IT-related inquiries and escalations.
  5. Vendor Management:

    • Evaluate and manage relationships with IT vendors and service providers to ensure quality service delivery.
    • Negotiate contracts and agreements for IT products and services, seeking cost-effective solutions.
Qualifications:
  • Education:

    • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
  • Experience:

    • Previous experience in IT management, system administration, or technical support roles is desirable but not required.
    • Familiarity with free or low-cost IT tools and software for nonprofits is a plus.
  • Skills and Abilities:

    • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • Detail-oriented with a focus on data security and privacy.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other commonly used software applications.
Work Environment:
  • Location: This position is primarily remote, with occasional in-person meetings or on-site support as needed.
  • Schedule: Flexible volunteer hours, with an expected commitment of two week check-in meetings.

H.Y.P.E. is an HIV services and youth development advocacy organization charged with building and growing programs that empower youth ages 13-29 and affected family members to succeed individually and to become leaders. H.Y.P.E. 's mission is to empower leadership in youth, young adults, and families to transform their communities through education, health literacy, counseling, supportive services, and trainings.

Our models have helped others succeed by showing our participants how to become leaders who mentor others to transform lives, communities, and systems.

H.Y.P.E. goals are 1.) Develop programs that empower our participants to succeed. 2.) Provide the tools to cultivate individuals, who enter our program, to effectively manage their personal health, finances, and social responsibilities 3.) Provide our skills and expertise to persons, groups, organizations, and businesses who wish to utilize our model(s) in targeted areas where HIV and AIDS are at their highest. Thus, leading us to amplify their voices to become leaders and advocates in their community.
