ORGANIZATION: PHILOSOPHERS STONE COMMUNITY OUTREACH

Job Summary:
T.R.O.O.P.S. members play an indispensable role in transforming communities through love, trust, and compassion. They are catalysts for positive change, focusing on re-humanizing individuals affected by the criminal justice system, building stronger communities, promoting spiritual health, and engaging in fundraising efforts. As ambassadors of the PSCO and the NewARK LIFE Initiative, T.R.O.O.P.S. members inspire and lead by example.

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Re-Humanize the Dehumanized:
- Restore the sense of self-worth, dignity, and humanity of individuals impacted by the criminal justice system.
- Provide support and encouragement to help these individuals rebuild their lives and rejoin the community as empowered citizens.

2. Promote Acts of Kindness:
- Actively engage in spreading positivity, empathy, and compassion within the community.
- Encourage and facilitate acts of kindness through daily interactions and community events.

3. Strengthen Communities:
- Participate in community-building activities such as neighborhood clean-ups, wellness checks, and town hall meetings.
- Foster a sense of belonging and unity among residents, creating a supportive network where individuals can rely on each other.

4. Enhance Spiritual Health & Wellness:
- Organize and participate in spiritual and emotional well-being activities, including the Baha'i Core Activities and Devotional Gatherings.
- Provide guidance and support to individuals seeking inner peace and personal growth.
- Collaborate with the Baha'i community for their core activities and devotional gatherings, while encouraging participation from members of all faiths and spiritual backgrounds.

5. Improve Public Relations:
- Serve as a visible representative of PSCO and the NewARK LIFE Initiative by wearing PSCO gear and uniforms.
- Use body cams to document activities and engage in public speaking to change public perceptions and reduce stigma associated with the criminal justice system.

6. Contribute to Fundraising:
- Engage in various fundraising efforts, including selling PSCO merchandise and seeking sponsorships from local businesses.
- Participate in recruitment, sales, and crowdfunding campaigns to ensure the financial sustainability of our initiatives.

7. Continuous Learning and Growth:
- Commit to ongoing training, development, and skill enhancement.
- Continuously seek opportunities for personal growth to improve your ability to make a positive impact.

Qualifications:

- Passion for community service and a deep commitment to the mission of PSCO.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact compassionately with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Flexibility to participate in various activities and events as needed.
- Willingness to wear PSCO gear and represent the organization in public settings.
- Experience in fundraising or community organizing is a plus.

The Philosopher’s Stone Community Outreach is a registered 501(c)(3) charity founded in Newark, NJ. We empower low-income communities through essential programs. Our initiatives include The Woman First Society, supporting women; The Abundant Harvest Community Garden, addressing food insecurity; Transcendence Pathways, fostering personal growth; and The NewARK Life Initiative, promoting kindness and unity. WE ARE CURRENTLY RECRUITING UNPAID VOLUNTEERS!
