ORGANIZATION: National Park Service

Working closely with the rangers at General Grant National Memorial, volunteers will assist in providing historical information, conveying the meaning of the Grant mausoleum, greeting visitors, answering questions and giving directions, and bookstore sales at The Tomb. Volunteers will be relied upon as stewards of the historic site and wellsprings of knowledge about the lives and legacies of Ulysses S. Grant and Julia Dent Grant. Work will be public-facing and take place indoors as well as outdoors. Training materials and time on or off-site will be provided to the volunteer to promote site knowledge before public interactions. We are looking for a volunteer who can serve at least one day per week for 4-6 hours at a time, but a schedule can be agreed upon with site volunteer coordinator. Volunteer will need to coordinate their own transportation to and from the site. The 1 train and M5 Bus run close by. A uniform will be required and will be provided by the site.
