Role Description:

As the Website Maintenance Volunteer, you will be responsible for ensuring the ongoing functionality, security, and performance of our organization's website. Your role involves conducting regular, monthly, reviews and updates to maintain the website, including managing plugins, monitoring for spam, and addressing any technical issues that may arise. Your work will be done independently with the oversight of our director and input from our IT team in order to implement necessary updates, enhancements, and security measures to keep our website running smoothly and effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in website maintenance and management, with a strong understanding of web development principles and best practices.
  • Proficiency in web development languages and tools such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and WordPress.
  • Knowledge of website security best practices, including SSL certificates, malware detection, and firewall configurations.
  • Experience with website analytics tools such as Google Analytics to track website performance and user behavior.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues promptly.
  • Familiarity with SEO best practices and website optimization techniques to improve search engine rankings and user experience.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular (once per month) reviews of the website to identify and address any technical issues, broken links, or outdated content.
  • Update and maintain website plugins, themes, and other software components to ensure compatibility and security.
  • Monitor website traffic and performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and optimization.
  • Implement website security measures, including regular backups, malware scans, and firewall configurations.
  • Manage user accounts and permissions, ensuring appropriate access levels and security protocols are in place.
  • Collaborate with the team to implement website enhancements, new features, or design changes.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and developments in web technology, recommending updates or improvements to enhance the website's functionality and user experience.
