Role Description:

As a Guest Speaker/ Workshop Facilitator, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and informative presentations on physical and/or mental health topics to our community. Your role involves sharing evidence-based information, practical tips, and inspirational stories to educate and motivate individuals to prioritize their well-being and adopt healthier lifestyles. You would either, 1 . Bring your own topic/ cur r i cu l um that you would like to present on, or 2. Facilitate workshops/interactive lesson plans from one of our existing cur r i cu l um s. The ideal candidate would be able to add their own expertise to the subject matter although some topics are for young children/ youth that would not require you to be a professional on the subject matter. You must be professional, dependable, and passionate about our cause!

Topics include but are not limited to:
Hand washing 101
Exercising is fun
Journal station
Sexual wellness station
That's not love ... That's abuse
Eating healthy on a budget
Depression & anxiety
How much sugar is in that?
Danger of smoking/vaping
Identifying & treating eating disorders
Meditation tips
Living with/preventing chronic illness
Delicious & nutritious station
Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs)AHHM is excited to pro vide an opportunity to those pro fessional s who would like to share their knowledge and expertise with others. Additionally, this can be used to sharpen your facilitatiing and public speaking skills.

We welcome the opportunity to discuss the amount time you have available for speaking, whether 1 event or several. We hold events in and around the L.A. area. While hosting webinars would be new to our organization, we would be willing to explore that idea with the right candidate who may not be able to come to in-person events.

Qualifications:

  • Some knowledge of physical and/or mental health-related fields, such as medicine, psychology, nutrition, fitness, mindfulness, or wellness coaching.
  • Some experience as a public speaker or presenter. A plus if you have a track record of delivering engaging and impactful presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Some knowledge of evidence-based practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with and inspire audience members through your storytelling and presentation style.
  • Passion for promoting health and happiness, with a genuine desire to make a positive impact on individuals and communities.
  • If bringing your own topic, research in your area of expertise, with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear and understandable language.
  • Ability to adapt your presentation style and content to different audience demographics, preferences, and cultural backgrounds.

We kindly request all our volunteers to commit a minimum of 3 months, aiming for a mutually beneficial experience. This approach allows volunteers the flexibility to reassess their commitment after the initial period, without feeling obligated to continue if their circumstances or desires change. By adopting this approach, both the volunteer and the foundation can ensure a more effective use of time and resources, avoiding potential disruptions to ongoing projects.
