IIMN

International Institute of Minnesota Adult English classes focus on providing a place for students to consistently and comfortably develop the skills required to live and work in the United States. Students range from pre-literacy learners to preparing for the GED to college preparation. This wide range of learners gives volunteers an opportunity to connect to students and create meaningful relationships. Our English Language Program provides four levels of Adult English instruction: English A, English B, English C, and English D.

We are currently in need of volunteers in our English B class, Mondays or Wednesdays from 9:30am to 12pm.

English Classroom Assistants:

  • Act as a classroom assistant. (Duties vary depending on the lead teacher’s style and preference.)
    • Lead small groups through activities.
    • Participate in whole class activities
    • Circulate among students to ensure they are following activities
    • Work one-on-one with students with particular needs
  • Communicate with the lead teacher on class activities, student progress, and expectations.

1 Shift

  • morning / 09:30 AM to 11:30 AM CST - Spots available: 1
    Monday through Thursday, volunteers chose 1 day a week to volunteer

  • Background Check
  • Must be at least 18
  • Orientation or Training
  • 2 hours a week on the same day each week for at least 3 months.
  • We do also require English Classroom Volunteers to participate in free trainings through Literacy Minnesota. Volunteers are asked to complete the 12 Hour Foundations Training
