ORGANIZATION: SouthernCare Hospice

Hospice offers volunteers to patients and their families as they journey the last stages of life together. Sometimes this is visiting patients and being a companion, other times its just sitting in the room with them so that they know they are not alone.

Remember what it was like to be alone as a teenager, or recently divorced, or widowed? Just having someone there in the silence of transformation, was so precious. It's not so much 'what' we do, its just 'that' we do it. Being there, being present, being a witness to their journey...

Our hospice services six counties and we try to find volunteers in each so that driving time is reduced.

Can you imagine yourself sitting with someone and reading to them, playing music together, playing cards or checkers, looking at photos and telling stories, or just sitting while their family runs errands?

We need you. Please contact us!
