ORGANIZATION: American Red Cross - National Headquarters

This position supports the Division (DIV) Volunteer Services department. This is a 100% virtual (volunteer-from-home) opportunity. The Divisional Volunteer works with the Divisional Volunteer Service Executive (DVSE) and Regional Volunteer Services to support and create DEI initiatives within the division and serves as a collaborative and a thought partner to build inclusive programs within the division.

Responsibilities

  • This position is responsible for supporting the Divisional Volunteer Services & Regional Volunteer Services Department to better serve the field and thus the community at large, which includes specific tasks such as (but not limited to):

    • Develop and implement strategies to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within the organization.
    • Assist with designing trainings programs and resources to educate volunteers/employees on DEI topics and promote inclusivity.
    • Collaborate with regional stakeholders to ensure diverse representation among volunteers and create inclusive volunteer opportunities.
    • Conduct assessments and gather feedback from volunteers and staff to identify areas for improvement in DEI practices within the Division.
    • Serve as a point of contact for regions to address concerns related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
    • Advocate for policies and practices that promote equality and fairness for all.
    • Lead and facilitate discussions and workshops on DEI topics.
    • Stay informed about current trends and best practices in DEI within volunteer management and incorporate them into program strategies.
    • Time Commitment/Length of Appointment: 10 hours per month (Must have availability within traditional business hours)/ Minimum 1-year commitment; renewable

  • Qualifications

    Required:

    • REQUIRED:

      • Must be 18 or older to volunteer in this position
      • Demonstrated experience and expertise in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, either through previous work experience, volunteer work, or academic projects.
      • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively engage with employees, volunteers, and external stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
      • Experience designing and delivering training programs on DEI topics, as well as facilitating discussions and workshops.
      • Commitment to ongoing learning and staying informed about current trends and best practices in DEI.
      • Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies
      • Must reside either in AZ,NM,CO,WY,TX,LA,UT,NV,MO,AR,KS,OK
