ORGANIZATION: The Volunteer Center of Reno County

Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community gives people the opportunity to live with dignity and purpose in a caring community especially designed to meet their needs.

Volunteers are needed to help with various activities in the assisted living and nursing home areas.

*Bus trips-Volunteers will accompany residents under the care of staff on bus trips that are taking residents to different activities.

*One on one visitors-visit w/ residents weekly

*Games-play and lead games like Skip-Bo, Dominoes

*Cooking/Baking-assist with gathering cooking supplies and assist residents that are seeing impaired

*Crafts-Help with various crafts, sometimes with just residents or could also be with residents and school or other groups

*Birthday Party-Volunteer needed to help set up monthly birthday party and also serve dessert and drink.

*BINGO-Volunteers will help residents with finding numbers on the BINGO card on Mondays from 3-4 p.m.

*Bell Choir-Volunteer will need to be willing to play the bells when not enough residents are there to play.

*Song Time-volunteer to help lead singing on Fridays from 3-4 p.m.

Qualifications:
A love of the elderly and a willingness to assist residents. Must enjoy visiting with others and have a pleasant attitude. All volunteers will have a background check completed by Buhler Sunshine Meadows before starting.

The mission of The Volunteer Center is to match individuals willing to serve with non-profit and governmental organizations in need of help for the benefit the community. Our goal is to be the first place people think of when they want to be of service and the first place non-profit and governmental groups think of when they need dependable volunteer help. As a result we extend the human capacity of area non-profit and governmental agencies by recruiting volunteers to fill a wide variety of volunteer positions in the community.

Description

The Volunteer Center recruits, refers and supports volunteers for the betterment of the community. The Center is home of the Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), the Volunteer Action Corps (VAC), Friends in Action and the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program in Reno County, Kansas.
