As the NicerFL Volunteer Coordinator/Student Intake, you will be a key player in supporting and coordinating volunteers while also overseeing the intake process for new students. The NicerFL Welcome Center offers various services, including English classes, tutoring, and resource mentorship programs, to facilitate access to job and community resources.

Responsibilities:

  1. Volunteer Coordination:

- Conduct orientation and training sessions for NicerFL volunteer tutors and mentors, familiarizing them with the organization's mission, values, and their specific duties.

- Coordinate and schedule volunteers, ensuring adequate coverage at the center.

- Enforce organizational policies and procedures, providing guidance and support to volunteers as needed.

- Maintain accurate attendance records for both volunteers and program participants.

  1. Student Intake:

- Manage the intake process for new students, including registration and enrollment procedures.

- Contact newly registered students to provide information about NicerFL's services and schedule orientations.

- Conduct comprehensive orientations for new students, acquainting them with the Welcome Center and its offerings.

  1. Records and Communications:

- Oversee the timely completion of records and surveys by volunteers, ensuring accurate documentation.

- Regularly review participant feedback to gather insights for program improvement and address concerns.

- Maintain close contact with program participants, addressing any issues or concerns they may have.

- Collaborate closely with the Program Director in Pinellas Park, sharing the workload and coordinating efforts.

  1. Volunteer Appreciation:

- Plan and organize volunteer appreciation events to acknowledge the dedication and contributions of volunteers.

Desired qualifications:

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with volunteers, students, and program participants.

- Strong organizational and time management abilities to schedule volunteers and manage student intake.

- Attention to detail to ensure accurate record-keeping and documentation.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with the Program Director.

- Flexibility to be present at the NicerFL Welcome Center for 2 hours on Saturdays to conduct orientations for new students and volunteers.

- Commitment to approximately 10 hours per week, with the majority of work conducted online.

Description

NicerFL Welcome Centers, located in Pinellas Park, USF Tampa, and Sarasota, provide comprehensive integration support for refugees and other new immigrants through a network of welcoming centers. These centers serve as safe, inclusive spaces where refugees can access services, participate in programs, and connect with others. We offer a wide range of immigrant support services, including personalized intake and newcomer immigrant support planning, English language life skills and cultural integration classes at 4 language levels, family literacy projects, career coaching, referral services, resource mentoring, well-being projects, and newcomer youth academic services.

NicerFL volunteers work hard to make sure that every new neighbor is welcomed and connected to the larger Florida community where they live. We also help newcomers transition to a new life in Florida.
