This opportunity is only for volunteers residing in the USA. NicerFL Media and Public Relations specialists help in developing and implementing effective communication strategies, including writing newsletters and blogs, managing social media platforms, and possibly helping with website updates. Roles and Responsibilities: - Manage social media platforms, including creating and scheduling posts, responding to comments and messages, and engaging with the audience. - Assist with website updates, ensuring content is accurate, up-to-date, and visually appealing. - Collaborate with other staff to write the organizational newsletter and blog. - Support the creation and distribution of marketing materials, such as brochures, flyers, and promotional videos. - Cultivate relationships with local media outlets, journalists, and influencers to enhance NicerFL's media presence. - Adhere to NicerFL's branding guidelines and maintain consistent messaging across all communication channels. - Attend meetings and training sessions and provide regular updates and reports on media and public relations activities to the supervisor or designated team member. Experience: Prior experience in media, public relations, or related fields would be beneficial. Candidates with a background in writing, journalism, social media management, or event organization may have relevant skills to contribute. Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential. The candidate should be able to craft compelling press releases, write engaging blog posts, and effectively manage social media platforms. Creativity: A candidate who can bring fresh and creative ideas to the table would help in developing innovative communication strategies to promote NicerFL's mission and engage the community. Digital Proficiency: Proficiency in various digital tools, social media platforms, and content management systems is important. Familiarity with Wordpress website management and design would also be beneficial. Passion for the Mission: A candidate who is passionate about supporting the integration of refugees and immigrants and promoting positive community engagement would be well-aligned with NicerFL's goals and values. NicerFL Welcome Centers is currently seeking volunteer tutors/group instructors to provide face-to-face instruction to refugee and new immigrant students in a small group or individual settings. The location and times are: Saturday, 2:30-4:30 pm at the Family Life Center of First United Methodist Church of Sarasota, Mira Mar Ct, FL. English Tutor in the NicerFL English Life Skills Program for adult refugees and new immigrants will teach 2 hours a week under the guidance of the Team ESOL teacher. The focus is on real life conversation skills and cultural integration topics. In the last 30 minutes, family members and their children participate in a joint project-based activity as part of our Family Literacy Project. The class is offered in small groups of up to 5 students at 4 levels of English: Basic/Literacy (L0), Beginner (L1), High Beginner (L2) and Intermediate/Advanced (L3/4). Students purchase a textbook and complete 60 hours at each level. English/Citizenship Tutor in the NicerFL Integrated English+ Citizenship Program provides language instruction and support to an individual or a small group of immigrants seeking to improve their English language skills and prepare for their citizenship exams. Tutors utilize various resources, and materials to develop English language skills, under the guidance of the Team ESOL Teacher. Tutors also prepare students for the citizenship interview and test utilizing NicerFL Integrated English+ Citizenship Curriculum. Newcomer Youth Tutors in the NicerFL Newcomer Youth Program can tutor in-person at the center an individual newcomer youth or a small group. Tutors follow an individualized learning plan for each student and use interactive lessons, activities and educational games to develop the student’s English language and academic skills. Additionally, tutors monitor participants' progress, provide mentorship and guidance, and connect the newcomer family to the resources they need to help their child succeed in school. In the last 30 minutes of the 2-hour session, family members and their children participate in a joint project-based activity as part of our Family Literacy Project. Requirements to become a NicerFL tutor: * commit to working with newcomers for a minimum of 4 months, for 2 or more hours a week. * attend an hour of orientation and complete an application and a background check. * complete a 2-hour in person training at the center and participate in ongoing professional development (around 2 hours a month) * if a student, provide 2 references from course instructors describing their academic skills in order to be selected for tutoring. Reporting Responsibilities of NicerFL tutors: -Complete an initial student interview and use date from the initial needs survey to complete an individual student profile and give referrals -complete follow-up and re-assessment surveys every month and update the student profile -connect with the student weekly to monitor progress and participation -complete and timely submit the volunteer log and student progress reports Please note that you need to commit to tutor/instruct refugees and new immigrants for a minimum of 4 months, 2-4 hours a week. Greetings, We are currently seeking volunteer English group instructors to teach refugees and new immigrants in online groups or individually. Prior teaching and tutoring experience is required for this role. The minimum commitment required is 4 months of online tutoring for 3 hours a week. If you are unable to meet this requirement, we kindly ask that you do not apply. In addition, we require completion of a one-hour volunteer orientation and a 5-module volunteer training course to ensure that you are prepared to provide effective support to our learners. As a tutor/mentor, you will be expected to conduct a pre- and post-needs assessment and track monthly progress. Additionally, you will be required to connect with your students during the week to help them with current issues, build a warm relationship and find necessary resources.
