ORGANIZATION: National Park Service

This position functions within the Division of Cultural Resources at Reconstruction Era National Historical Park. The work involves researching and assisting with any historical projects. The volunteer will provide the work and assistance necessary to support park staff at Reconstruction Era National Historical Park and Reconstruction Era Network.

Major Duties

Researching

  • Ability to find, record, and share reliable resources.
  • Carefully edit and fact-check produced materials to make sure information is correct.
  • Ability to assist historians on a project-by-project bias.

Specific Projects:

  • Darrah Hall - Glebe Plantation
  • Agricultural History - Farming Practices and Crops in Beaufort County
  • First Jericho Baptist Church

Knowledge and Skills Required

The knowledge, skills and abilities for each project may vary, but the basic requirements are:

  • Ability to read cursive.
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Ability to efficiently communicate and keep an organized record of work.
