Are you passionate about driving positive change in underserved communities? Do you have a desire to make a meaningful impact and help shape the future of our organization? Look no further!

Terms of Office:
Members of the Board of Directors are elected for three-year terms, providing stability and continuity in leadership.

Meetings:
Board members are expected to actively participate in the following meetings:
Quarterly Webinar Meetings
Quarterly Committee Meetings (typical time commitment of 2-5 hours per month)

Committee Requirements:
Board members play a crucial role in one of our standing committees, contributing to the success of our initiatives. Responsibilities may include outside project work such as drafting documents for review or communicating with stakeholders.

Diversity and Inclusion:
We aim to ensure diversity and inclusion within our board composition. This includes a mix of staff members employed by state service commissions, commissioners serving on state service commissions, and at least one Youth Commissioner (age 17-24). Geographic diversity is also a priority, with representation from all five boroughs of New York City. Additionally, up to five at-large Board members will represent organizations or networks closely aligned with state service commissions nationwide.

Geographic Diversity:
We anticipate identifying a minimum of eight new Board member slots in the 2024-2025 year, based on current and expected vacancies. While applications are encouraged from all states, priority will be given to applicants from states that are not currently represented on the Board.

Skills and Interests:
While general interest and support of our mission are key criteria, we also seek Board members who demonstrate expertise and interest in the following areas:
Communications: Developing and executing social media and communications strategies.
Public Policy: Advocating for public resources to support national service programming.
Finance/Administration: Budgeting, accounting, and financial management.
Resource Development: Fundraising, event planning, and securing private grants.
Legal: Working with federal agencies on reform agendas and regulatory streamlining.

What We Ask of Our Board Members:
Attend 4 Quarterly Meetings and 4 Quarterly Committee Meetings
Actively participate in fundraising efforts to ensure long-term sustainability for community impact.
Make an annual personal gift to support our mission.
Utilize your network to garner financial support and attend fundraising and community events.
Advocate for resources and provide leadership opportunities for our youth members.
Uphold fiduciary responsibilities including Duty of Care, Duty of Loyalty, and Duty of Commitment.
