Are you a certified yoga instructor interested in putting yoga within reach for people experiencing homelessness? Join our team & share your expertise!

Nativity House Shelter is looking for certified yoga instructors to teach beginner yoga classes and chair yoga classes.

Class sizes would be relatively small and would benefit shelter guests who are actively experiencing homelessness as well as low-income apartment residents who have transitioned out of homelessness and would not be able to afford traditional yoga classes.

You have the freedom to build your own schedule. We have not offered classes since before Covid-19.

Nativity House Shelter (overnight shelter) is a 167-bed shelter for adult men and women. The front side the building (Nativity House Apartments) provides 50 units of permanent supportive housing for chronically homeless single adults with disabilities. We also have shelter guests who utilize our drop-in Day Center from 7 am to 4:30 pm.

What we're looking for:

  • Someone who is certified to teach yoga & help prevent injury
  • Someone who can offer safe instruction for people with physical disabilities or mobility challenges and offer modified poses to help people move as they are able

  • Someone who knows how to work with people who have behavioral health / mental health challenges
  • Friendly & Compassionate- Kindness & a good sense of humor go a long way at the shelter

Mission Statement

At Catholic Community Services we believe every child should grow up in a safe, loving and nurturing environment. The elderly should be able to live with security and dignity. A healthy family life should be affirmed and supported in our communities. Compassion, love and respect for all people, especially the poor and most vulnerable. In joining with others to change systems that oppress, discriminate or otherwise cause human suffering. Employees and volunteers should work in an environment that fosters respect, teamwork and excellence. In all of these things for all people, whatever their color, whatever language they speak or however they worship.

Volunteer Services provides low-income adults (anyone 18 years old or older) who have temporary or permanent functional disabilities, including those associated with aging. The people we serve can not afford to purchase the kinds of service we provide, do not qualify for assistance from other sources and do not have family or friends available to help them. Service is provided on an as-volunteers-are-available basis. There are never any fees for the services provided.
