Are you looking for a fun and novel place to volunteer, love history and/or trains, and also enjoy gardening, gardens and greenspaces looking healthy and beautiful? Join us at the B&O Railroad Museum!

Volunteers for gardening and landscaping will work independently but in collaboration with museum staff to ensure the landscaping at the museum is maintained, particularly from Spring through Fall. This will include things like trimming, weeding, watering, and planting/maintaining flowers in our flower pots.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining landscaping
  • Planting/upkeep of flowers
  • Water various plantings throughout the Museum campus
  • Managing weeds
  • Light trimming (facilities staff will manage larger trimming and pruning)

There is no mowing involved.

The ideal volunteer will have 2-3 hrs/wk. Hours will vary seasonally.

Qualifications: This volunteer position is ideal for someone with a personal history of successful gardening and who has a passion for plants and flowers and enjoys gardening. We would prefer, but do not require, someone knowledgeable on native plant gardening and/or pollinator gardening.

You can also reach out to the Museum’s Volunteer & Outreach Manager, Sam Hughes, at shughes@borail.org or (443)627-2393.
