Description: Democratism is looking for Graphic Design Interns to support a team of activists and volunteers working to end the Electoral College and create fair representation in Congress. Interns will produce original graphics for web, print, and social media, as well as presentations, and internal marketing assets. This role offers a unique opportunity to support Democratism's mission in a creative role.

Position Title: Graphic Design Intern

Position type:

  • 30-40 hours per week.
  • 8 weeks, May-July 2024. Start and end dates are flexible. Additional weeks in August may also be possible.
  • This is an unpaid position. Democratism welcomes all candidates who are passionate about this role to apply, regardless of whether or not they meet every requirement listed.

Location: Remote

Responsibilities:

  • Design graphics for various digital and print materials, including social media posts, infographics, and educational videos
  • Create PowerPoint and/or Keynote presentations and templates, including custom images and animation
  • Collaborate with other interns and volunteers to conceptualize and execute design projects that effectively communicate Democratism's mission and values
  • Develop social media posts and templates for the following platforms: Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Mastodon, and X
  • Support outreach and advocacy efforts by designing materials for specific events, campaigns, and presentations
  • Actively participate in regularly scheduled team meetings
  • Complete comprehensive training on Democratism in order to understand its mission and key objectives

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
  • Prior experience with graphic design projects (including digital, print, and video), either through coursework, internships, or personal projects. Applicants from all majors/degree programs are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Strong time management and critical thinking skills
  • Strong understanding of design principles, typography, and color theory for the creation of visually captivating designs across multiple digital platforms
  • Comfort using online tools for collaboration, communication, and document creation
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and their design requirements, including: Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Mastodon.
