Be part of the commercial kitchen team. The commercial kitchen team will be responsible for creating "grab and go" meals for students. These meals will be fully cooked and then placed in the student refrigerator and freezer for consumption.

Each week, volunteers will be tasked with creating meals and snacks for students based on items in the student pantry. Food will be prepared twice a week to ensure fresh food waste within the student pantry is eliminated. As a member of the commercial kitchen team, you will be asked to practice ingenuity and creativity to make healthy and delicious food. As a volunteer on the commercial kitchen team, we are asking you to help us fight to eliminate food scarcity and food waste within Pawsperity.

About Pawsperity

Mission Statement

Pawsperity is a non-profit whose mission is to help struggling parents and young adults break the cycle of generational poverty through job skill development in the field of pet grooming and wrap-around services that help eliminate barriers to success.

Description

Pawsperity, formerly known as The Grooming Project, is a unique nonprofit that trains struggling parents and young adults in the high-demand field of pet grooming. Our extensive program teaches students pet grooming, as well as essential life skills, so they have the confidence, courage and financial stability to transform their lives.

For many, this means moving on from abusive relationships, addiction, or trauma to regain custody of their kids, establish a home and feel the joy of being able to buy school clothes, or play in a band, or cuddle with a beloved pet at the end of the day.

Founded just 7 short years ago, Pawsperity has already had immense success transforming the lives of impoverished families. With our recent rebrand and move into a beautiful new facility, we’re rapidly expanding to serve even more students.

In addition to the nonprofit Grooming School, Pawsperity now operates a Doggie Daycare and two professional grooming salons staffed by program graduates, The Salon in Kansas City and The Salon in Lee’s Summit. Revenue generated from these businesses supports the organization's mission, so we can be less reliant on grants.
