ORGANIZATION: U.S. Department of the Interior Bureau of Land Management

The Judith Landing campground host will provide visitor information, conduct area monitoring, provide a management presence, perform maintenance and janitorial duties, and represent the BLM. Judith Landing is a popular site open 5/15-5/17 within Upper Missouri River Breaks National Monument for launching watercraft, as well as camping, picnicking and fishing. The campground features eight first-come, first serve campsites.


Duties:

Hosting duties include but are not limited to:

-Daily campground fee compliance, campsite maintenance duties

-Monitoring facilities and campground for visitor security and potential safety hazards

-Reporting to staff when repairs are needed or when incidents occur

-Daily interactions with visitors, including answering questions regarding area recreational opportunities, and informing visitors of rules and regulations within the campground

-Conducting BLM visitor surveys with visitors


Maintenance duties include routine bathroom cleaning, campsite cleanup (trash pick-up, fire ring cleaning), grass mowing and other basic maintenance tasks.


Location Info:

This position is relatively remote, located 45 minutes from nearest town (Winifred or Big Sandy) with basic services (gas, grocery). It is 80 minutes away from Fort Benton or Lewistown that each offer more expanded services (hospital, shopping). Located roughly halfway along the Upper Missouri Wild & Scenic River, this is the primary location that the public and outfitted groups take out from the river.


Schedule:

-4 Days On ( Friday-Monday) , 3 Days Off ( Tuesday-Thursday)


Volunteer Campsite Amenities:

-Electric Hookups Provided

-Water Trailer Provided for Potable Water

-Low Speed Wi-Fi Available

-Limited to No Cell Phone Service


The BLM will reimburse each volunteer $30 for each full day duty shift worked.
