We are Mentor's R Us Inc., a dedicated organization committed to empowering individuals to inspire and model sustainable life skills through the engagement of hands-on experiences. We are currently seeking talented and motivated individuals to join us.

We are excited to offer a volunteer position for Web Developer and Teacher as we make accommodations for life skill courses, intake appointments, and provide affordable housing for individuals who have been displaced due to high priced housing.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Examine and understand our Nonprofit organization.
  • Website and software application designing, building, or maintaining.
  • Using scripting or authoring languages, management tools, content creation tools, applications, and digital media.
  • Understands IU, cross-browser compatibility, and general web functions and standards.
  • Conferring with teams to resolve conflicts, prioritize needs, develop content criteria, or choose solutions.
  • Executes assignments with the use of web applications, scripts, and programming languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and API’s.
  • Directing or performing Website updates and creating solutions for identified problems or bugs..
  • Developing or validating test routines and schedules to ensure that test cases mimic external interfaces and address all browser and device types.
  • Editing, writing, or designing Website content, and directing team members who produce content.
  • Maintaining an understanding of the latest Web applications and programming practices through education, study, and participation in conferences, workshops, and groups.
  • Back up files from Web sites to local directories for recovery.
  • Evaluating code to ensure it meets industry standards, is valid, is properly structured, and is compatible with browsers, devices, or operating systems.
  • Advising other volunteers on how to make simple changes using website builders to maintain websites without needing a website developer, knowledge of different hosting sites
Desired Qualifications
  • Proficiency in hostinger, weebly, word press, wix and their website builders
  • Must be available to teach volunteers about simple design changes
  • Solid understanding of how web applications work including security, session management, and best development practices
  • Adequate knowledge of relational database systems, Object Oriented Programming and web application development
  • Basic knowledge of Search Engine Optimization process
  • Aggressive problem diagnosis and creative problem solving skills

Description

MRU acknowledges that Inspiration can unlock the keys to hidden potential in youth and adults. Our Programs match real world experiences with dreams that seem unattainable.

This program promises to improve relationships, self-esteem, social & life skills, emotional stability, morals, health and spiritual awareness. Mentor's and Mentees meet in teams for extra support. Activities are pre-arranged by topic to create the most beneficial environment for the youth and the Mentor.

MRU's Independent Living Program: Mentor's & Mentee's will share living quarters as MRU's philosophy expand to the home base. Mentee's will transition through the program in approximately three years until they gain their own independence into society.
