Our pioneering initiative offers a unique opportunity as a Topic Expert for a new Industry Working Group, focusing on Physical Security. If you are adept at planning, installing or operating some portion of physical security systems and want to help us make school safer, we want to talk to you. Our non-profit foundation needs help from topic experts to create a new industry Standard describing Requirements and Tests for compliance.

We're assembling several small teams to craft a new industry standard describing requirements and compliance verification for video surveillance, access control, business process automation, maintenance and planning/ budgeting of physical security in schools. This new Standard will also serve as a blueprint for training Assessors who will be available to audit and enhance the physical security infrastructure of school districts.

As part of this mission, you'll be at the heart of a movement to shape safer educational environments across the nation. With 6-8 teams, each comprising 3-4 members, your insights will lay the groundwork for significant industry-wide impacts.

Ideal candidates are versatile and hands-on team players, who appreciate the multi-faceted roles common in start-ups.

Snapshot of What You’ll Do:
  • Identify and articulate key points regarding physical security system Requirements to enhance school safety, focusing on current products and services.
  • Develop foundational elements for Test procedures to verify compliance with the new physical security Standard, ensuring practical applicability in today's educational environments.
  • Collaborate within small, focused teams to pool expertise on specific security topics, ranging from video surveillance to access control and business process automation.
  • Contribute to the creation of a comprehensive framework that will serve as the basis for training Assessors in evaluating school districts' physical security measures.
  • Share pithy expert insights and snippets that will be refined by others into the final written Standard; you do NOT need to be a technical writer nor is writing a necessary strength.
  • Engage in discussions that bridge theory with practical application, ensuring that the Standard that is both visionary and actionable.
  • Participate in a collaborative process that draws on precedent in other industries (technology and IT, for example), learning from their success in implementing collaborative standards development.
  • Play a pivotal role in shaping a program from its inception, influencing how physical security in schools is approached and implemented nationwide.

Sharing your expert insights as a working group member will be foundational for our mission, and enable others to finalize the writing based on the key points and insights you provide. This collaborative effort will ensure that the final industry Standard is comprehensive, practical, and reflective of the expertise shared by all contributors.

About CARM Safety Foundation

Mission Statement

CARM Safety Foundation serves to educate consumers about physical security and support scientific purposes related to computer-aided risk management (CARM), in order to increase physical security. We are laser-focused on making schools safer, sooner.

Description

We operate as a 501c3 non-profit organization. Founded in 2020, we are a start-up working to assure that more technology is applied to make the public safer. CARM is an emerging commercial capability that uses sensors for data gathering and computers to predict threats before tragedy occurs to humans. This concept was pioneered by NASA, and others have embraced this approach, including SpaceX. CARM solutions will apply similar capabilities/technologies towards a much broader goal of improving public safety.

Volunteers are needed to drive planning and operations common in most functional areas of typical companies: marketing, business development and strategic relations. As a non-profit, we are always in need of help generating grant requests to fuel our programs. The founders of CARM Safety Foundation are veterans of the technology industry, and feel an urgent need to add more capability for keeping people safe at work, in schools or during other group activities.

In addition to helping in your area of expertise -- or another area where you want to demonstrate more experience and impact -- all volunteers will gain a greater appreciation for a wide range of technology and how that industry grew via scores of inter-corporate collaborations.

If you are looking for an opportunity where you will be a part of saving lives, CARM Safety Foundation would like to work with you.
