Title: Volunteer Bookkeeper

Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Volunteer Bookkeeper. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, reconciling accounts, and assisting with financial reporting processes. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute your skills and expertise while supporting our organization's mission.

Responsibilities:

  1. Record Financial Transactions: Input income, expenses, and other financial transactions into our accounting system accurately and in a timely manner.
  2. Reconcile Accounts: Regularly reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial accounts to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
  3. Generate Financial Reports: Assist in producing financial reports such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements on a regular basis.
  4. Assist with Budgeting: Collaborate with our team to develop and track budgets, providing financial insights to support decision-making.
  5. Maintain Documentation: Organize and maintain financial records, invoices, receipts, and other relevant documentation in an orderly manner.
  6. Ensure Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and organizational policies.
  7. Communicate Financial Information: Provide financial information and reports to management or stakeholders as needed, and respond to inquiries or requests for information.
  8. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and enhance financial reporting capabilities.

Requirements:

  1. Proficiency in Accounting Software: Experience using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or similar platforms.
  2. Knowledge of Basic Accounting Principles: Understanding of fundamental accounting concepts such as debits, credits, accruals, and financial statements.
  3. Attention to Detail: Ability to accurately record and reconcile financial transactions with a high level of precision.
  4. Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work effectively, and maintain orderly financial records.
  5. Communication Skills: Good communication skills to effectively interact with team members, management, and external stakeholders.
  6. Integrity: Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling financial information with discretion and integrity.
  7. Flexibility: Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and requirements in a dynamic organizational environment.
  8. Previous Experience: While previous experience in bookkeeping or accounting is preferred, enthusiasm to learn and contribute is equally valued.
