Position Title:Website Administrator

Non-Profit Pro bono Opportunity | Remote | Flexible Schedule | 10-15 hours per month.

Department / Reports To: Dr. Sayanti Basu, VP, Operations

Collaboration: Administrative Departments, Project Leaders, Executive Leadership Team

About Chemists Without Borders: We are a small non-profit, all volunteer organization, focused on solving humanitarian problems through the application of chemistry and other sciences. We are committed to increasing people’s access to clean water, improving educational opportunities, and increasing capacity within communities worldwide.

Position Summary: We are seeking a Website Administrator to join our global network of scientists and enthusiastic teams of committed individuals. As a Website Administrator, the individual will be expected to support the maintenance and upkeep of website. This is a critical IT role within the organization.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Planning, implementing, managing, monitoring, and upgrading the organization's website.
  • Responding to and troubleshooting all website issues.
  • Collaborate with external vendors for website projects and troubleshooting.
  • Identifying and responding to all website security breaches.
  • Ensuring that the website is protected by enabling the appropriate security measures.
  • Updating HTML, CSS, and JavaScript regularly.
  • Conducting content audits to eliminate redundant and/or duplicate information.
  • Creating/posting appropriate website content aligned with the organization’s strategy.
  • Administer user accounts, roles, and permissions.
  • Ensuring website quality and efficiency by conducting regular test plans.
  • Collaborating to ensure website aligns with brand strategy and organization’s standards.
  • Ensuring full compliance on the website with all laws and regulations.
  • Keeping up to date with industry best practices and monitoring competitor websites.
  • Keeping the website’s domain and hosting registration current

What we look for in the applicants:

  • A degree in computer science, IT, systems engineering, or related qualification.
  • 2 years of work experience as a website manager.
  • Knowledge of Adobe suite, Content Management Systems, and W3C Web standards.
  • Proficient in HTML, XHTML, CSS design, cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility, firewalls (functionality and maintenance), and JavaScript.
  • Understanding of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and WordPress.
  • Ability to troubleshoot website issues in a fast-paced environment.
  • Analytical mind and outstanding problem-solving skills.
