We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled volunteer intern to assist in the construction of an enclosure for our mini goats for Sunflower Club at Kairos. As a farm committed to sustainable agriculture and animal welfare, providing a safe and comfortable environment for our goats is a top priority. We are looking for individuals with carpentry skills, a love for animals, and a willingness to contribute their time and expertise to this project.

Responsibilities:

1. Design and Planning: Collaborate with farm staff to design an enclosure that meets the needs of our mini goats, considering factors such as space requirements, shelter, fencing, and access to food and water.

2. Material Acquisition: Assist in sourcing materials needed for the construction of the enclosure, including lumber, fencing, hardware, and any other necessary supplies. Explore cost-effective options and seek donations or discounts from local suppliers if possible.

3. Construction: Work under the guidance of experienced volunteers or staff members to build the enclosure according to the approved design and specifications. Tasks may include framing, fencing, roofing, and installation of gates and other features.

4. Safety and Compliance: Ensure that the enclosure meets safety standards and complies with local regulations and ordinances related to animal housing and welfare. Take measures to prevent escapes, injuries, or other hazards.

Requirements:

• Basic carpentry skills and experience with construction projects.
• Ability to work safely with hand and power tools.
• Physical fitness and stamina to perform tasks such as lifting, bending, and carrying materials.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
• Passion for animal welfare and a desire to contribute to the well-being of our mini goats.
