Description of Organization: Established in 2021, Red Horse Center provides personal and professional development, mental health services, and community support. We facilitate collaborative learning experiences and incorporate nature, horses, dogs, art, and experiential learning in the process. We serve youth and adults, individuals and groups, in-person and virtually. Participants engage with us through individual sessions, educational workshops, team retreats, or custom-tailored programs.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities: The Fundraising and Marketing Intern will assist in managing multiple projects and efforts to support the organization's mission through effective communication, research, stewardship, volunteer coordination support, promotional materials, and special events. The intern will:

  • Gain hands-on skills in all facets of fundraising.
  • Participate in a national fundraising and media campaign, help launch a groundbreaking state-wide initiative, and coordinate community-base d activities and events.
  • Learn the trends in fundraising, event planning, and non-profit management that honor the mission and galvanize the community.
  • Join a small, innovative nonprofit organization that promotes creativity, honors, and nurtures talents and interests.

The intern will focus primarily on the RHC annual Support Drives, such as:

  • Seen Through Horses - Horses for Mental Health Peer Fundraising Campaign. (National Campaign)
  • Collaborative Brew is a new fundraising initiative to support mental health and wellness in Michigan’s food and beverage community, helping with outreach, communications, and marketing efforts.
  • Porch Party Annual Spring Fundraiser and Lively Art Auction is the culmination of the Spring Campaign, benefit, and celebration.

Core Responsibilities: In partnership with RHC Staff and Volunteers:

  • Research and prepare background materials for individual and foundation grant applications and requests.
  • Assist with Donor Database (Salesforce, Give Lively) and recording donations.
  • Draft and proofread correspondence.
  • Coordinate social media, collateral, and web content to promote events.
  • Assist with soliciting, securing, and acknowledging sponsorships, in-kind donations, and auction Items.
  • Manage volunteer recruitment and training.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Pursuing an undergraduate/graduate degree.
  • Have an interest in fundraising, marketing, and/or nonprofit management.
  • Excellent Communication skills -- written and oral.
  • Comfort soliciting and interacting with individuals from diverse backgrounds, communities, and life experiences face-to-face, on the phone, and via mail/email.
  • Research, writing, and editing skills.
  • Must be flexible, demonstrate the ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and adjust to changing priorities.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Salesforce a plus)
