The City of Tucson estimates that more than 1,600 individuals and families are currently facing homelessness. It’s our mission to help those in need through a variety of programs and resources, and by providing nutritious meals, medical care, hot showers, and a warm bed. In addition, and during the hottest months in Tucson, The Salvation Army provides cold water, snacks, heat-relief items, hygiene and summer clothing to those who live in or near Santa Rita Park through Operation Chill Out.
To that end, we’re currently seeking donations of bottled water, individually-packaged nutritious snacks and other summer items* for those less fortunate in our community - including children and youth! Please support The Salvation Army Tucson in helping those experiencing homelessness maintain their dignity while also getting the caring support needed to overcome poverty and homelessness.
We're happy to provide a collection box for your business or organization, if needed.
*LIST OF NEEDED ITEMS:
- bottled water
- beef or turkey jerky
- peanuts, cashews or almonds
-protein, cereal or granola bars
-fruit/applesauce cups
-peanut butter or cheese cracker packets
-Rice Krispie treats or cookies

Description
The Salvation Army provides services to the Tucson community by way of temporary shelter, transitional housing, case management, job training, and GED Training. We hand out food boxes, water and clothing to those in need.
We also have youth programs such as day and summer camps and after school programs similar to Boy and Girl Scouts.
During the holidays, we provide meals for community members on Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. We also host the Christmas Angel Giving Tree and Adopt-a-Family program for those in need at Christmas.
