ORGANIZATION: Youth Ideas at Work

VOLUNTEER Curriculum Developer

We are seeking a Curriculum Developer to join our program development volunteer team. This is a meaningful opportunity to create engaging learning experiences and help shape how teens develop and conceptualize their ideas in STEAAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Architecture, and Math) subjects.

As part of our team, you will design and build curriculum materials that integrate STEAAM principles, foster innovation, and encourage critical thinking. This includes creating modules on emerging fields such as cybersecurity, robotics, artificial intelligence, environmental science, and digital arts. You will also train educators to apply these tools effectively through workshops and resources. Additionally, you may evaluate existing curricula and help integrate new technology or adapt them into digital formats to enhance accessibility and engagement.

Candidates do not need to be experts in all of these topics; rather, we seek individuals who are masters in any one of these areas.

We welcome applicants with all levels of experience. Candidates with expertise in STEAAM-related fields, a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, teaching license, or classroom experience will be highly regarded.

Curriculum Developer Duties and Responsibilities

  • Define course objectives that align with STEAAM learning outcomes, emphasizing innovation and problem-solving.
  • Design content delivery and assessment methods tailored to STEAAM education, with a focus on hands-on and project-based learning.
  • Develop engaging, interdisciplinary modules on topics such as cybersecurity, robotics, coding, artificial intelligence, and digital arts.
  • Incorporate concepts of sustainability, environmental science, and agriculture into the curriculum.
  • Evaluate and revise existing curriculum with a focus on integrating technology and STEAAM principles.
  • Adapt existing curricula into digital formats, including interactive, gamified, and multimedia learning tools.
  • Provide training materials, workshops, and best practices for educators to teach STEAAM topics effectively.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure curriculum accuracy and relevance in emerging technologies.
  • Promote the ethical use of technology and critical thinking skills in areas like cybersecurity and AI ethics.
