10 ways you could support seniors from home!

  • Board Member ; Social Activities Committee Chair ; step into a leadership role with an already well-oiled machine of a team, currently holding regular meetings, hosting events, managing the NNN events calendar and successfully planning our summer event. The team is looking for somebody to represent them at the board level, reporting on activities and supporting administrative duties and communications as needed.
  • Volunteer Onboarding Support : reference checking & volunteer phone interviews
  • Member Outreach Support: assign members to check-in volunteers, providing contact and other relevant information and record check-in results.
  • Services Coordinator: volunteer from home, answering phone calls on a shared Google Voice app and emails through a shared email from our members and volunteers. Create, edit and review "Services" on our platform with/for our members. Encourage and look out for services for volunteers that wish to be contacted about urgent requests.
  • Social Media Contributor/Manager : create and/or collaborate on content and post on FB (and instagram if possible) to recruit volunteers, and for general branding purposes and occasional fundraising campaigns.
  • Nextdoor Coordinator : coordinate and organize posting initiatives with other volunteers that use Nextdoor in a variety of cities.
  • Fundraising support: variety of opportunities, including researching local small business funding opportunities, grant research, grant writing, making phone calls to donors, selling sponsorships, fundraising events planning and much more.
  • Newsletter editor/content coordinator: utilize an existing template or create a new template for NNN monthly newsletters, source member profile content and writers, coordinate with other contributors and do the final editing and publishing through our website platform.
  • Community Resources for Members : coordinate a list of volunteers and organizations/companies to research on behalf and for the benefit of our membership, maintain and add to the list of organizations or companies, coordinate volunteer assignments, and maintain all results in a centralized location/Google Drive.
(not exactly behind the scenes but still a need...)
Back-up Driving Team:
we are looking for transportation volunteers to join our small but mighty team of backup/quick-response drivers who map out a week in advance the drives they can cover if no volunteer can do them; and also might be available for last-minute service requests to run by a pharmacy or other critical errands.

All of these opportunites can be performed from home, for the most part. Training will be offered. Please contact danie@northwestneighborsnetwork.org with questions.

About NORTHWEST NEIGHBORS NETWORK

Location:

PO Box 293, Edmonds, WA 98020, US

Mission Statement

Northwest Neighbors Network helps seniors age well in their own homes by providing volunteer services and events

Description

The local communities of Shoreline, Lake Forest Park, Edmonds, Mountlake Terrace, Lynnwood and Brier are among the multitude that are forming or have formed Aging-In-Place Villages worldwide. Northwest Neighbors Network is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation created using the model already in place in Northeast Seattle (N.E.S.T), Greenwood (PNA Village) and Capitol Hill (Wider Horizons) to help older adults (60+) remain in their homes and communities as they age. Village members pay dues, so the model becomes largely self-supporting once fully established. We are especially in need of volunteers in the key areas of member recruitment and retention, fundraising, forming strategic partnerships with businesses, and technical support. We are also looking for Board members with experience in the non-profit sector and providing services to seniors. To support or growing membership base, we're seeking enthusiastic volunteers for everything from running errands to handyman tasks to organizing social events, you name it!
