Volunteer Tech Class Instructor

Role Overview: As a Technology Class Instructor focused on senior wellness for the Healthy Aging Response Team (HART), a department of Daly City Partnership, you will be an integral part of our team-the volunteer Tech. Class Instructor position within the Healthy Aging Response Team provides tech-related education, skill-building, support, guidance, and empowerment to individuals ages 60+ facing challenges related to technology access, loneliness, transportation, and mobility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct tech classes, teaching older adults various technology skills based on their needs and interests
  • Provide 1-on-1 assistance for tech-related queries and skill enhancement.
  • Collaborate with team members to improve comprehensive tech education programs, given experience, challenges and successes.

Requirements:

  • Moderate proficiency in various technology devices, software, and concepts (e.g., smartphones, tablets/laptops, Apple and Android, internet safety, device security, etc.).
  • Patience and adaptability in teaching skills to individuals with varying experience levels.
  • Teaching or training experience preferred, but not required.
  • Report attendance and class outcomes to the program supervisor.

Training:

  • 10 hours of online, autonomous, self-paced training followed by a final 1.5-hour session

Time Commitment: 4 hours per week. Flexible hours for training/planning. Conduct classes as in-person sessions (2-3 hours per session), and completion of necessary onboarding requirements.

Healthy Aging Response Team (H.A.R.T.)

HART is a collaborative effort of local organizations that have come together to serve the rapidly changing needs of adults 50+ and persons with disabilities. It promotes a sense of community-building by allowing peers to volunteer and help their neighbors.

Daly City Community Resource Center (DCCRC)

The DCCRC provides support and quality crisis intervention services, either directly or by referral, empowering individuals/families towards self-sufficiency.
