Volunteer Position: Wellness Coach (PEARLS)

Role Overview: As a Pearls Coach focused on senior wellness for the Healthy Aging Response Team (HART), a department of Daly City Partnership, you will be an integral part of our team. The PEARLS Coach volunteer position within the Healthy Aging Response Team provides support, guidance, and empowerment to individuals ages 60+ facing challenges related to depression, anxiety, and overall mental well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Program to Encourage Active and Rewarding Lives (PEARLS) to older adults ages 60+ facing depression and anxiety in person, virtually, or by telephone.
  • Provide 1-on-1 skill-building sessions and health promotion activities.
  • Conduct regular follow-ups and check-ins to monitor progress and provide ongoing support.
  • Collaborate with fellow coaches and program coordinator to develop mental health improvement strategies, given experience, challenges and successes.

Requirements:

  • Familiarity with coaching techniques or willingness to undergo training.
  • Empathetic and compassionate approach to individuals facing mental health challenges.
  • Strong communication and active listening skills.
  • Report individual client attendance and outcomes to the program supervisor.

Training:

  • 10 hours of online, autonomous, self-paced training followed by a 1.5-hour scheduled meeting

Time Commitment: 4 hours per week. Flexible hours, participation in provided training, potential for occasional in-person sessions, and completion of necessary onboarding processes.

Healthy Aging Response Team (H.A.R.T.)

HART is a collaborative effort of local organizations that have come together to serve the rapidly changing needs of adults 50+ and persons with disabilities. It promotes a sense of community-building by allowing peers to volunteer and help their neighbors.

Daly City Community Resource Center (DCCRC)

The DCCRC provides support and quality crisis intervention services, either directly or by referral, empowering individuals/families towards self-sufficiency.
